The SingleSensor digital imaging technology for the SmartLF SCi 25, SCi 36 and SCi 42 large format scanners is a patented Colortrac invention. By combining contact image sensors (CIS) in a robust, single-piece design, Colortrac has been able to obtain significantly higher optical quality and alignment stability. 50,400 short image path sensors and a custom designed bi-directional LED lighting arrangement work together to reduce optical errors to a minimum ensuring that all scan and copy data is of the highest possible colour and dimensional accuracy. Shadow effects of folds in creased documents are also reduced by the innovative active pressure roller which gently presses the document against the SingleSensor. Each basic model is available as monochrome (m series) , colour (c series) or express colour (e series). The ''m'' series, ''c'' series can be upgraded to the "e" series after your purchase.
SmartLF SCi uses “instant-on” low energy colour stable LED lighting and is Energy Star qualified.
In April 2025 all SmartLF SCi models used with SmartWorks Imaging software became FADGI 3 Star approved which is a USA bench mark for archival standards.

The scanner is manufactured to meet or exceed all relevant safety and electrical standards.
